Things to do in Bhutan
In Bhutan, happiness matters more than wealth. They celebrate their traditions, from the national dress of monastic robes and gho and kira that everyone wears, to the intact countryside and towns. Bhutan has been open for tourists for a long time, and you can still explore and be adventurous without being inhellegently ‘overrun’.
Make sure to see the iconic 17th century Tigers Nest Monastery precariously perched on a cliff near Paro or visit the Phobjika Valley in winter when the rare black-necked cranes in the world migrate from Tibet. There are gorgeous dzongs (fortresses) in Trongsa and Punakha, or you can trek through the stunning pristine pastures of Bumthang Valley with homestay on local farms.
This remote mountain kingdom offers authentic culture, beautiful landscapes, and real experiences found no where else in the world.
