Experience overview
Start with a night in Kuching, before traveling to Bako National Park. Your guide will point out proboscis monkeys and many of the 150 species of birds that live here. Enjoy the beaches and dramatic cliffs for which Bako is renowned. Travel to Kota Kinabalu, Lahad Datu, and on to the Borneo Rainforest Lodge in the Danum Valley -- a glorious stretch of primary rainforest that is home to Sumatran rhinos, Asian elephants, hornbills, pheasants, and a plethora of other birds and animals. After three days of trekking, birdwatching, and exploring, travel via Sandakan to the Sukau Jungle Lodge for a tour of Ox-bow Lake, and the gorgeous surrounding forest. Travel down the Kinabatangan River, edged with pristine mangrove forests. You will spend a night at the Sepilok Nature Lodge, your base for visiting the Orangutan Sanctuary. Travel to Kota Kinabalu National Park for two days and nights exploring the Park's Rhododendrons, pit! cher plants, and orchids. Return to Kota Kinabalu for a night before departing.
