Sample Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Kuala Lumpur, drive to Malacca

On arrival in Malaysia, you'll be met by your private guide in Kuala Lumpur, who will drive you to your hotel in Malacca.

Day 2
Countryside cycling tour around Malacca

Meet your cycle guide and head out into the countryside. See the country’s rural beauty, travelling on two wheels through the outskirts of Malacca, riding past rice fields and plantations with your guide enriching the trip with stories of the fruits and spices grown in the region. Stop at ‘kampongs’ (Malay villages) to meet the villagers and learn about day-to-day local life, before returning to Malacca. The remainder of your day will be at leisure, to relax cycle-weary muscles with a spa treatment, or maybe just a warm bath!

Day 3
Drive to KL, explore independently, ascend Petronas Towers

Set out for Malaysia’s buzzing capital, Kuala Lumpur, where your day will be at at leisure to explore its history and culture, until your early evening visit to the Petronas Twin Towers. Don't forget to bring your head for heights as you take the high-speed lift to the Observation Deck on level 86 and walk across the Skybridge, connecting the two towers at level 41, a dizzying 557 feet above the ground. Enjoy the panoramic city views before heading back to the ground.

Day 4
Heritage walking tour

Take to the streets for a walking tour of KL’s unsung heroes. Wander past grand colonial buildings, and take inspiration from the city’s varied architectural styles. Stop at the ornate Jamek Mosque; stroll down Malay Street, where everything from traditional remedies to everyday clothes is for sale; drink Tarik tea and eat fragrant roti canai bread in a salon on Indian Mosque Street; take in the Colonial Core city centre, Medan Pasar (formerly Old Market Square), the Central Market, Sin Sze Si Ya Temple and Sri Maha Mariamman Temple; and enjoy a well-deserved lunch in Chinatown. Make an afternoon stop at the Chan She Shu Yuen Clan House, before heading back to your hotel where the rest of your day will be at leisure.

Day 5
Batu Cave climb, drive to Cameron Highlands

Travel north to the ancient Batu Cave complex. Pass the enormous, gold statue of Hindu deity Murugan at the foot the limestone hill, and climb 272 steps to explore the sacred series of caverns and Hindu temples, and perhaps catch sight of a few cheeky macaques scampering over the rocks. Continue north, and after a winding ascent you’ll reach the temperate hill station in the Cameron Highlands to be greeted by rolling hills and a very welcome drop in humidity.

Day 6
Tea plantation trek & tour

Embark on a Falls & Farms Discovery walk. This moderate 2-3 hour trek follows a winding, undulating jungle trail to the picturesque Robinson Falls, before passing through the Bertam Valley, one of the main vegetable growing areas of the Cameron Highlands, dotted with farms. Visit one of the region’s famous tea plantations to learn about the traditional techniques, seeing the processes from cultivation to marination and drying, before sampling three of the plantation’s different teas as you overlook the vast terraces below.

Day 7
Cross the Penang Bridge

Make your way along the coast and across the impressive 8-mile long Penang Bridge. Once you’ve settled into your hotel, the rest of your day will be at leisure to start exploring Penang Island.

Day 8
Georgetown highlights & foodie tour

Tour Georgetown’s key sights, and graze through the town’s famous foodie hotspots. Make a beeline for the ornate Sri Mahamariamman Temple, pausing for a few Indian-style snacks along the way. Visit the Khoo Kongsi clan house, the Pinang Peranakan Mansion museum and historic Fort Cornwallis, then lunch on spicy Penang Laksa rice-noodle soup and coconut-sweet chendol. See Wat Chaiya Mangkalaram’s grand reclining Buddha; visit the Dhammikarama Burmese Buddhist temples; and head to Bangkok Lane to try the famous Mee Rebus and Mee Goreng noodles that reflect the area’s Thai and Burmese influences. Your last stop of the day will be the famous Kek Lok Si Buddhist temple: an expansive complex of prayer halls, pagodas and bell towers surrounding a seven storey pagoda and bronze statue of the Goddess of Mercy. The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure to soak up the city’s sights and sounds.

Day 9
Penang Taman Negara Nature Reserve trek

Penang Taman Negara is a modest nature reserve, covering just under 2,500 hectares on the northwestern tip of the island. Despite being the smallest national park in Malaysia, its biodiversity is impressive. With habitats ranging from sandy and rocky beaches, to mudflats, mangroves, tropical forest, and a fascinating ‘meromictic’ lake where the layers of fresh and sea water never mix, it’s home to a diverse array of flora and fauna. Explore the reserve, making a special visit to Monkey Beach where primates play on the sand; picnic beside, and swim in, the Pantai Kerachut meromictic lake; and trek along undulating terrain from Pantai Kerachut to Pasir Pandak. From mid-afternoon, the rest of your day will be at leisure, and you can enjoy some well-earned relaxation at your hotel.

Day 10
Fly to Langkawi

Relax with a morning at leisure in Penang, until heading off to catch your flight to Langkawi. Settle in, and your afternoon will be at leisure to enjoy the island’s laid-back, natural vibe.

Day 11
SkyCab cable car flight

Start in the foothills of Mount Machinchang where you’ll board the ‘SkyCab’ for a 20-minute ride over the jungle-clad mountainside. This is the steepest cable car ride in Asia, covering 1.3 miles and rising 2,320 feet above sea level, affording you fantastic views of the forest and waterfalls, and glimpses of birds and wildlife, as you slowly ascend. Pause at a viewing platform to take in the scenery before continuing to the top. Once there, it’s a short walk up the stairs to the peak for 360-degree views over the forested slopes and surrounding islands. On a clear day, you can see as far as Thailand to the north and Indonesia to the south-west. Take some time to appreciate the scene below, before heading back to the base and being driven to your hotel where the rest of your day will be at leisure.

Day 12
At leisure on Langkawi

Your last couple of days will be at leisure to sink into Langkawi’s tropical island pace. Wander along the shoreline, dipping your toes into crystal waters; snorkel in the shallows or dive around the coast; and graze on fresh seafood specialities in the beachside cafes.

Day 13
Depart Langkawi

Your day will be at leisure until your transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

Not only were we treated royally and terribly spoiled, but we felt we got a sense of the Japanese people, their history and their culture. It is a trip that we will always find joy in remembering. Thank you so much for all you did to make it such a memorable time for us.

We had no idea what a Microlight was going into our honeymoon, and seeing it when we arrived admittedly made us weak in the knees… But it ended up being the highlight of Zambia for us and we can’t imagine experiencing the magnitude of Victoria Falls any other way!

The planning process was excellent. My biggest concern at the outset was a lack of deep conversation from other agencies. My expectation was that someone would take the time commensurate with the cost and Jessica did exactly that

We brought our two grandchildren, ages 12 and 14, to South Africa to fulfill a long-held dream of ours. Attention was paid by Daniela and her colleagues to every detail and every nuance of our trip, and after all of our raves, it’s inevitable that we shall have to come back with our other seven!

You know, when expectations are sky high, as they were for this trip, there is a very high risk of disappointment. Still, this trip exceeded our expectations. It was truly an incredible, awesome experience. Thanks again for your expertise in putting together this trip. We’ll most definitely go to Africa again in the future.
AMAZING experience. There is no way that we would’ve had the same experience if we planned this trip ourselves. Absolute Asia treated us better than we would’ve treated ourselves!
