When is the best time to visit South Korea?

The best time to see cherry blossoms in South Korea is March through May, and if you want cooler weather with lovely fall leaves plan for September to November. Both seasons provide wonderful outdoor temperature.

Summer (June-August) is an excellent time for hiking but can be hot and humid away from the mountains.

Winters in South Korea are very cold, so December to February generally are not a good time for travel.

Keep in mind holidays when planning. Korean New Year is on the first day of the lunar year, and Chuseok is the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. During these periods, many people travel to home towns and many businesses are also closed.
