This six-day program takes travelers to the heart of Laos’ verdant south. Drive from the Thai border town of Ubon to Pakse, the southern trading city and your starting point for a boat journey to the Lao-Cambodian border region of Khong Island. This popular wildlife-spotting region seduces visitors with its calm tranquility and exceptional natural beauty. Spend a full day exploring this lush terrain; you may be lucky enough to spot endangered fresh water dolphins. Drive to Pakse for a night. Travel overland to Saravan, for two nights by one of southern Laos’ loveliest rivers. An elephant trek takes you to Alak villages, and through the verdant countryside that makes this area one of Laos’ most appealing. Drive to the Thai border for your flight to Bangkok.
