Experience overview
The intensity of the Buddhist faith exhibited by the Burmese, as well as the worship of nats, or pre-Buddhist, animist spirits always moves visitors to Burma. This tour focuses on the many sacred cities and pilgrimage sites of the country. Start with touring of Yangon and Bagan, including a visit to Salay, with its many active monasteries, and Mt Popa, considered the dwelling place of the country's most powerful nats. Fly to Mandalay, the country's most important center of Buddhism, with over 60% of Burma's monks and nuns living in the area. Visit nearby Amarapura & Mingun, and then return to Yangon. From here, travel to Pegu, then south to Kyaiktiyo, to visit the awesome Golden Rock Pagoda: this is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the country, best seen at sunrise and sunset. Return to Yangon for a night.
