Redang Island Guide: Best Beaches & Snorkeling in Malaysia
Redang Island emerges from the South China Sea looking just like a postcard, with its powder-white sandy beaches gently sloping into turquoise jewel colored waters. It is a haven for sunbathers and salty adventurers alike, and because the island is a protected marine park the clear sea is some of Malaysia’s finest snorkeling and diving; swim just a few meters from shore with gentle sea turtles and schools of tropical fish.
The main beach at the Berjaya Resort is a stunning stretch of sand, but the true magic of the island lies in finding its hidden gems. Hire a boat to take you to the beautiful and remote bays of Teluk Dalam and Pasir Panjang where you can likely have a whole cove to yourself. If you are looking for an even more remote escape take the excursions provided by several of the resorts to visit nearby undeveloped Pulau Lang Tengah with its pristine beach and some of the best snorkeling you will ever experience in its coral gardens. If you prefer not to boat, you can explore the jungle trails which provide tranquility and a canopy of exotic birds.
Best time to visit Redang Island
The best time to visit is between March and October when the weather is generally sunny and the seas calm, given that most resorts on the island are closed during the monsoon season from November until February.
