Experience overview
This tour focuses on the unique culture found in the Borneo interior, where the famed architecture of the longhouses reflects the gregarious, communal, social Iban lifestyle. Start with a two-night stay in Kuching, where you will tour the city and visit the Sarawak Cultural Village and Museum, both of which will help you understand the Iban lifestyle. Spend a day at Bako National Park. Travel through market towns and plantations to the beautiful Batang Ai reservoir. Spend a night in a jungle lodge, well situated for exploring the lush surrounding forest, and visit several different nearby longhouses. Over the following three days, you will have a superb opportunity to learn about life in the forest, the plants that local people use for food and medicine, and the many birds and animals that live here, including orangutans and macaques. Visit several Iban longhouses; your guide will explain the cultural nuances that make life ! here so special. The Iban are renowned for their hospitality and gregarious nature, and you are sure to receive a hearty welcome. Return to Kuching.
