Experience overview
Spend a week traveling through small fishing villages and exploring luxurious islands where swimming, snorkeling and diving are the main attractions. Begin in the northeastern city of Kota Bharu, which has lively markets, lovely beaches, nearby craft villages and superb museums. The food here is fantastic with a wide range of Malay and Chinese cuisine. Head south to Merang, a relaxing fishing town with nearby marine parks. Visit the city of Kuala Terengganu, which has one of Malaysia's finest longhouse museums, or spend a day swimming and snorkeling at Redang Island. Drive to Cherating, whose coves are well situated for windsurfing. Travel to Tioman Island, one of the most beautiful in Southeast Asia and the location of the film South Pacific. After three relaxing days, return to Kuala Lumpur.
