When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the peak time to visit the Maldives because the weather will be warm with little rain – temperatures from high 70’s to mid 80’s. The weather is sunny all year, but there is a dry (November to April) and wet season (May to October). The peak time period will have the best weather, but also brings the most people and highest price tag. But, since each resort is on it’s own island, you won’t have that crowded feeling that you get with other destinations.
The rainy season is May to October. The southern atolls will get the most rain during this time, experiencing 7 or 8 inches of rain per month along with winds. Often, the rains will be a short shower that will soon be replaced by the sun. Some love the low prices during the rainy season, although July and August can be quite rainy. The rainy season is also a good time for surfer’s for bigger waves in excess of 12 feet.
Private resorts can celebrate holidays like Christmas, Easter, and Diwali but cannot celebrate these holidays on local inhabited islands.
