When is the best time to visit in Bhutan?
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are generally the best time to visit Bhutan because the weather is more moderate (less cold and fewer if any rainy days) and you are able to sightsee, hike, and enjoy Bhutan’s amazing landscapes at their best.
In the spring, you’ll see blooming rhododendrons and lush green valleys. In the fall, you’ll see crisp mountain air and festive cultured celebrations. This is also when major sites like the Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang Goemba), Punakha Dzong, and Tashichho Dzong are the most photogenic.
Naturally, these months bring more visitors, however, due in part to Bhutan’s regulated tourism policy and limited visa numbers, even in their busiest months, you will not feel “overrun” by visitors. You will find your peaceful moments and places with more than enough room to notice and enjoy and appreciate the beauty and peacefulness of this unique Himalayan kingdom.
