Begin with two nights in Delhi to become acquainted with the city and then make your way to Bandhavgarh National Park where you will spend two full days tiger-tracking at Mahua Kothi, India’s first luxury safari lodge. Continue to Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities on earth and the most important pilgrimage site in India. Here you will visit Sarnath, the site of Buddha’s first teachings, enjoy a sunrise boat ride along the Ganges River, explore the Old City and participate in an evening Deepmala ceremony. Stop for an overnight in Delhi before making your way to Agra to see the magnificent Taj Mahal. In addition to the Taj, you will be introduced to some of Agra’s lesser known attractions. Transfer by road to Alwar for a taste of the quieter life of India’s villages and then head to Jaipur, the famed “Pink City” of India, where you will visit Amber Fort and tour the city’s many museums and palaces. Drive through the stunning Rajasthani landscape to Udaipur where you will visit the City Palace and the Jagdish Temple. Spend three nights here, which includes an evening boat ride on Lake Pichola, the Jain temples of Ranakhpur and wandering the colorful bazaars.
